To survive a rainy wedding, the key is in the type of fabric you’ll wear. You will want something that doesn’t get heavy with the rain or take time to dry. Fabrics like velvet, wool, and denim are prime examples of what not to wear in the rain if you’re wondering. In winter, summer, or spring, when it rains, you need a coverup. The blazer is your best friend. It’s flattering, and it works well with skirts, dresses, pants, jumpsuits —you name it. Paired up with a cute clutch bag and nude heels, it will leave you still looking polished. If you’re a scarf person, this rainy day may turn out to be your best yet. There are many fashionable scarves available that will complement your outfit while also keeping you warm. You can also go for a stylish poncho or shawl, especially if the weather is a bit cold.
If you’re wearing a floral dress, make sure your blazer, scarf, or poncho is a solid colour or, at the very least, doesn’t clash in pattern with your ensemble. You still want to look fashionable, even in the rain!
The length of your dress or pants also matters. You want to avoid wearing a maxi dress or skirt that will get caught in the mud and make you look drab or even cause you to stumble. Go for knee-highs or a midi. Choose ankle-length pants if you’re wearing pants. This way, you’ll avoid the sticky-mud situation.
