This is the moment a Scottish photographer captures a heartwarming proposal outside the entrance to Edinburgh Castle, while photographing another happy couple.
Sam McYoung, also known as @BigfootMcGroot, was out shooting a couple when he heard a shriek of happy shock to his right.
That’s when he raced over to see Rowan on one knee, proposing to his now fiance Fey, who was clasping his face in shock.
The original couple also came running over in excitement, as the photographer asked to send the beautiful photos to the newly-engaged couple.
Photographer Sam was ecstatic for the couple, and posted a TikTok of the moment, that went viral almost immediately.
The footage has since been viewed over 140,000 times, garnered well over 20,000 likes and has hundreds of comments wishing the couple happiness.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, newly engaged Fey has said: “What a surprise, super romantic marriage proposal! I said yes, of course!
“We were in Edinburgh to get my dressings changed and had decided to go to the Celtic jewellery shop to get me a ring to match the one I had given him.
“Then we went to get some pizza, and stopped to look at the sunset over the Castle.
“But, I had no idea that he was going to get down on one knee and actually propose right there in front of the Castle!

“It was just so incredibly romantic.”
Fey told us of his complete shock when Sam came running over to capture the engagement live on camera.
He continued: “By an incredibly amazing chance, a professional photographer was there when it happened and took some beautiful photos of the whole thing!
“We just want to thank Sam McYoung, we love the photos. It is just pure serendipity.”
There hasn’t been a date set for the wedding, but Sam has confirmed that the couple has asked him to shoot the wedding, after their chance Edinburgh encounter.
