A video of a marriage proposal at a WooSox game recently went viral but it didn’t go as planned.
The couple can be seen standing on top of the dugout when the man got down on one knee. The crowd can be heard cheering but the woman isn’t as excited.
She shakes her head, looks around and gets off the dugout before heading up the stairs, away from the man. He soon follows her.
“Ew public proposal at polar park? Girl did the right thing…,” one person wrote on Instagram.
“That @WooSox marriage proposal disaster was the best part of the game,” another person wrote on Twitter.
The video has gained national attention as people watch the failed proposal.
Some question its validity.
“Staged,” one person wrote on Instagram.
“That’s what I think,” someone replied to the previous comment. “The video starts with them up on this stage what exactly got them there?”
But the WooSox told MassLive they weren’t part of it and it is real as far as they know.
Either way, it’s started a lot of discussions about proposals at ballparks.
“It’s more important that we all agree to end stadium proposals,” Jillian Fisher wrote on Twitter. “Please.”
